Spreading our wings

img_3839We picked up 5 new chicks this morning, Black Stars, a hybrid dual-purpose layer.

No names for the new girls yet, but we are thinking about rock song heroines –Layla, Lola, Loretta….  They need good names, ’cause their Henbogle girls, now.

Five more Americaunas will join the flock next week.  The fun never ends here at Henbogle!

There’s nothing cuter than a bunch of little chicks. I like the idea of using rock song heroines names for your girls.

Oh, after seeing your new “peeps” I can not wait for mine to arrive on May 7th. I live in Southern Maine and enjoy reading your blog.

Such cute chicks! And such a great idea for naming them!

This is just increasing my chicken envy, of course. :)

Pictures of the Americaunas, please, when they arrive!

Since they are Black Stars maybe you should consider Aretha, Billie, Lena, etc. They sure made me smile this morning!

Love chicks. On one of the boxes of chicks it had directions “do not kiss chickens”, we had a laugh. It is very tempting! Love the aprons!

So cute :) I adore how they sleep sitting up like that!

Question: How do the newly arrived chicks take to the ones who are already there? Are there “territorial” issues, or do they just blend in? I’ve always wondered…
