Another glorious day, another hike

We are lucky to live in Maine, and we know it. We live within a hours drive of Popham Beach, Portland, the Camden Hills, Pemaquid Light and so many more beautiful places. On such a gorgeous day, why not take advantage of it?  Again today we hiked in the Camden area. Like Maiden Cliff, Bald Rock is another smallish mountain, but this one has gorgeous views of the Maine coast.

The first half of the steep climb was up a road to a long-gone ski lodge, then up a steep trail

featuring some excellent stonework by the trail builders. The vertical climb altogether was 850 ft. From the exposed ledge summit, we had quite a view.

It was another super day, a great way to end a soggy summer.  And then, we went home, and I made pizza on the grill.  YUM!

Wow! Great pictures. You guys are great for bringing some of those spots to us. I feel lucky for having the good fortune to live in Maine as well. Just a few minutes from Pemaquid Pt. and I don’t get down there enough!

This has been a beautiful September here in our beautiful state. I’ve been closer to the garden but spending time at Sebago, floating and watching the leaves begin to turn. Thanks for sharing the photos. You’ve inspired me to hit a trail soon…

Hi June, I’m glad we inspired. Try Douglas Mountain in Sebago, it is a good hike for kids, and has a nice view from the observation tower.
